34-2 INT - CAVE ENTRANCE - NIGHT RAINING

LIGHTNING flashes.

FIRE-LIGHT flickers from deeper inside the cave:
    (00:24 horns, noble)
White-haired ADAM, enrobed, comes forward slowly, thoughtfully:

And stands at the cave entrance:

Stoops, and kneels:

      900 years later:

Adam on one knee, bows his head:
      Adam bar Yachovech (of the Earth-lineage),

      Patriarch of seven generations,

      And tens of thousands of great, great, great, great, great, grandchildren,

      Long bereft of his sister-wife, Eve,

      Estranged from his first son, Cain,

      Lost his second son, Abel,

      Wise to the stories about one Enoch walking with God,

LIGHTNING flashes: Adam inspired again, looks up-out into night rain.
      Thinks back from his cave dwelling,

      Upon his mother, Mrs. Elle Yachovech, LT Commander of InterSpace Forces,

      And upon her people, and Mr. Gabriel and Mr. Michael,

      Whom he has not seen for several hundreds of years,

Adam stands-up: Looks-out a last time.
      And upon his early childhood spacer days,

      And upon their curious equipments unknown in his Earth world,

      And ponders: what became of them,

      Where did they go,

Adam slowly turns-back and retreats to his cave-fire:
      Why did they stay away,

      Had they forgotten,

      Where did they come-from,

      Who were they: what were they,

      What had they become,

    (~02:24~ mmm)

Adam sits, and eats:
      When would they return,

      What was he himself: why had he been placed on Earth,

      Would they ever meet again,

      What was this world,

      What was the world before: what was the space between the worlds,

    (~02:49 voice)

Adam pauses from eating, and ponders:
      What Mind lay beyond the stars,

      What Spirit attended him on Earth,

      What was his common Principle,

      Of harmony, of reality, of Life, of Soul,

      Questions mounting ever more expansively: towering ever higher,

      A tenuous substance of thought: overcoming the gravity of opinion,

Adam retires to bed.
      As dully satisfying as the pale red light of that typical day that first illumined the face of the Earth - or that milky smear of luminescence crossing the sky:

      Somewhere out there had been a beginning he did not recall: or perhap never knew.

      Adam was passing: yearning for skyward flight again: that eluded his childish knowledge:

Adam rests finally.
      Knowledge that seemed convincing: yet was empty: save an occasional traveler.

      At last Adam had become a quickening spirit:

      A God-worshipper.
