The crater garden is flourishing:

(watching Adam)

Do you have to count the fruits again?
ADAM
Mommy says we don't forget to count the fruitage with gratitude every harvest season.
EVE
(points doll at low branch)

'Ooh' - I don't count that one - it's mushy - the birds ate it already.
ADAM
You don't eat the mushy fruit, Eve. Mommy says we count all of the fruit the trees make, so we know what good we did the tree by tending it.
EVE
I count only good fruit.
ADAM
Mommy says we need to know how much more fruit is on the trees we tend.
EVE
How many fruits are on that tree?
ADAM
Fifty-three:
And that is three times better than the tree I didn't tend with water and dung.
EVE
Is that enough?
ADAM
Mommy says it is a good amount.
EVE
Is the fruit ready to eat?
ADAM
Soon, maybe next week. I must finish counting these before we can eat them.
EVE
Okay. Don't let the birds eat them any more before next week: I'm hungry.
[ELLE]
(near off-view)
Adam, Eve: It's time to finish-up and be getting ready for dinner.
ADAM
(to Eve)

Be sure to feed my animals before dinner time.
EVE
(draws goat back-away)

Come-on, go-at: It's time for you to go-at your dinner.
(comes forward)
ANGLE: Eve COMES to the FOREGROUND: ELLE is preparing dinner at the oven:

Eve gathers animal foods: They discuss the tree of life: [the one fruitless tree]

ELLE
(busy)

Are you feeding the go-at?
EVE
(gathers goat-food)

Yes.
(considers)

Mommy?!
ELLE
Yes, dear?
EVE
Why does that tree in the middle of Adam's garden, grow without fruit when he tends it? It doesn't look broken.
ELLE
Eve: Each tree has its own God-known purpose for man: That pine is a tree that lives only: And it produces seeds to grow more pine trees: It has some qualities useful for cleaning, too.
(agains)

Many things grow without fruit, Eve - and many with only very small fruits; And we keep some of each, to remind us to prove that we do have Godly work to do: Not everything we do is for feeding man.
EVE
Okay.
(recedes with goat food)
Eve RETURNS with goat food to MID-FOREGROUND:

Feeds the goat, and tends the other animals: feeding, water, petting:

Elle near-steps on Adam's clay toy spaceship on the ground before the oven:

ELLE
(stepping on clay toy)

Adam: I've told you to keep your toy space-ships away from the oil-oven, so we don't step on them.
ADAM
I did - Eve took it: You told me to not stop her.
ELLE
Eve: Did you leave Adam's spaceship near the oil-oven?
EVE
(frustrated)

It's just a clay-toy: It doesn't really fly through space.
ELLE
Eve: Come here.
(awaits)
EVE
(leashes goat to post)
(comes to Elle)
ELLE
(continues close-softly)

Eve: We must appreciate our ability to be watchful of the desires of each other - to care as we would have our own desires cared-for:
(beat)

Can you do this, Eve?
EVE
(ponders)

Yes.
ELLE
Now, how about returning Adam's spaceship, and thanking him for letting you play with it for a while?!
EVE
Okay, mommy.
(picks-up Adam's toy)
(cradles it to Adam)

Thank you, Adam, I liked playing with your spaceship.
ADAM
(turns to Eve: retrieves it)

Thank you, Eve, for refueling it -
(on a spaceship flight-of-fancy)

Shush -- shush -- shush.
ELLE
Eve: Would like to help me make dinner?
Eve brings a step-stool and her body-apron to Elle:
EVE Yes.
(sets and steps-up the stool)
ELLE
(ties apron)
( positions stirrer for Eve)

Nothing should ever become over-done: Keep stirring the whole pot while it is over the stove-fire, and stir into the corners, so that the whole cooks evenly.
EVE
(cooperates stirring)

How much is over-done?
ELLE
Food is cooked only so that it yields quickly to man's desire: Never waste your resources cooking.
EVE
What's a resource?
ELLE
What God has already provided, and men have located and gathered.
EVE
So, the fire-oil and sticks in the oven are resources; and the fish. Is clay a resource? It's everywhere.
ELLE
Not all clay is good for making pots, so, yes, pot-clay is - a resource must be recognized, too.
EVE
Is fire a resource?
ELLE
We use it, and it requires our resources, but it has no place but what we give it, so we call it a technique, and we must apply our techniques to use our resources efficiently, and not waste anything.
EVE
Okay. How much fire do we apply to cook dinner?
ELLE
We control the oven-fire by placing more or less oil-and-stick-resource in it, and we adjust the oven-air-vent to control how well it burns - we don't want hot smoke from the oven: that's not firey hot, and it's not fully burned - so it'd waste our resource-sticks and oil to make smoke.
EVE
Why doesn't the sunlight-beam cook our food for us? It's brighter than this hot oven-fire.
ELLE
The chemistry of cooking is heat, not light, and the sun is so far away from the Earth that it cannot give us much heat but what warms our day. If we could gather more sunlight to focus on our pot we could cook, but we'd also have to stir it because the light stops at the surface of the pot, and does not cook inside.
EVE
(pondering)

Is the sunlight-beam then a resource? It has a place it comes-from. How can we gather it?
ELLE
Yes, sunlight is a resource; but it's not easy to gather: We'd need a reflector like the surface of the water in the river-pools where you see your face looking back at you.
EVE
(recognizing)

Oh!
